A two-day patriotism-themed summer camp was held in Beijing on July 19-20, which means the beginning of the national teenager patriotic educational reading campaign in this year. The launching ceremony of the reading campaign was held on July 21.

During the campaign, teenagers nationwide will participate in various activities such as lectures, reading festivals and writing and speech competitions.

Wu Haiying, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), affirmed the significance and achievements of the campaign over the past years in her speech at the launching ceremony.

Wu hoped that organizers would stay true to their original aspirations and to their missions, and she called on them to promote Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era on campus.

Wu also encouraged the teachers to innovate the reading festivals and social practices for students, and she urged the students to work hard and develop themselves into qualified builders of socialism and successors of all-round development of morality, intelligence, aesthetics and physical health.

More than 1,200 teachers and students took part in the launching ceremony.

A group of teenagers who gave excellent performances in the previous campaign attended the summer camp.

During the two-day camp, they explored the magnificence of the Great Wall, learned about the progress of China's national defense industry at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution, and they visited the National Zoological Museum of China and the Beijing Aquarium.

They also took part in a speech competition, toured the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and experienced the life of soldiers in a military garrison.

Launched in 1993, the campaign has benefited more than 800 million people over the past 26 years.
